: In 1949 as a new MIDN USNR of less than a year' s service at NROTC Cornell University I was ordered to a summer cruise on the USS Springfield CL66. Springfield embarked its midshipman complement at T.I. First night was spent in barracks. Cold!! Two blankets not enough. Later I discovered that T.I. is the coldest place on the left coast in the summer.
TI is right in "the slot" and gets the undiluted sea breeze, but also most of San Francisco is colder in the summer than folks expect. We sell a lot of sweatshirts to tourists.
I'm Cornell '66.
