My great-grandfather and my grandfather had the plumbing contract for the World's Fair on Treasure Island 1939-1940. I have photos of them at the fair on Treasure Island, dated 1940. We recently also found photos of my great-great grandparents at the 1915 PPIE. (Panama Pacific International Exposition) standing in front of all the lovely buildings there, including the Palace of Fine Arts building. Their plumbing business, Forster's Plumbing, had all the big public building contracts in San Francisco and Berkeley, including the Palace Hotel, etc. Forster's Plumbing was started by my great-grandfather William J.W. Forster in 1907 right after the San Francisco earthquake. He passed the business down to his children, my grandfather being one of them. My grandfather and grandmother also owned Forster's Variety, one of the last five and dime stores in the Bay Area. It was on Solano Ave. in Albany, CA. Deborah Peterson-Sutherland
